The New Jersey State Police Bomb Unit is a full time FBI Nationally Certified Bomb Unit that is located within the Homeland Security Branch, Special Operations Section, Technical Response Bureau. The main mission of the unit is Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Operations (IEDs, PBIEDS, VBIEDs and other Hazardous Devices), response to suspicious / Hazardous Devices, Post Blast Investigations, Clandestine Home Made Explosive Labs and the disposal of deteriorated explosives, commercial and consumer fireworks.
